Vacations to the Dominican Republic

Many of the world's major tour operators offer vacations in the Dominican Republic making a decision quick and easy, followed by easy booking with either a travel agent, the tour operator directly or a secure online agency. You can select from all-inclusive vacations in large and luxurious four and five star resorts, air and hotel and airport transfer included, or you can buy your flight and hotel separately, or you can opt for a small hotel, apartment or villa, some with breakfast included or providing kitchen facilities where you can take care of your own needs.

Where should I choose?

The most popular beach destinations in the Dominican Republic are Punta Cana and Bavaro on the east coast, the La Romana/Bayahibe area on the south coast and Samana and Puerto Plata along the north coast. A fascinating point of interest is Santo Domingo, but you won't find beach resorts there.

Punta Cana/Bavaro - You can stay in four and five star all-inclusive resorts on the long, pearl white, palm-fringed beaches, perfect for sunseekers and peace.

Bayahibe - This is the emerging top destination in the Dominican Republic with quality hotels and lovely beaches. Located on the Caribbean Sea and a stone's throw from the islands of Saona and Catalinita and Catalina for great excursions, this area takes advantage of the unbelievable underwater world with a host of water tours and experiences. Bayahibe records a low rainfall and has the most sun hours of the beach destinations in the Dominican Republic.

Samana/Sosua/Cabarete - The Samana Peninsula is a stunning oasis and awaiting discovery. It now has its own airport and there is a recently opened highway allowing safe and speedy airport transfers from Santo Domingo. More adventurous travelers often choose Sosua and Cabarete for the surfing and kiteboarding and the festive and youthful party atmosphere.

Hotels without flight

Hotels and resorts are almost never 100% occupied. When an agency indicates that an accommodation is fully booked, it only means that the rooms (beds) they reserved are fully booked. However, another travel agency may still have rooms available at the same hotel. So check with other providers. Sometimes it is possible to book the hotel without airline tickets. Go look for a ticket and create your own package..
